Working with clients
such as Warner Brothers, Screen West Midlands, The Script Factory,
The International Film Collective and numerous writers and production
companies, Sarah Olley represents a strong talent in script development,
garnering many unsolicited recommendations for the standard
of her work. She has provided writer feedback for the UK Film Council and one-to-one support for writers through Screen
West Midlands schemes. She also currently works as a drama development producer
for Eye Film & Television,
building a slate of film and TV projects. This includes regular work with
new writers, commissioners, pitch writing and leading creative development
sessions. She also develops projects independently (see Live
Projects). With Eye Film
& TV, Sarah has developed and script edited two series
of original children’s drama The Secret of Eel Island, for
Channel Five, (Broadcast 2005 and 2006).
She also provided script supervision on both
shoots. She currently jointly runs a Soho networking group for
professionals working in development and was one of the first to graduate
from the Script Factory and
National Film & TV
School’s diploma in Film
Script Development in 2005. As such she can co-ordinate further development
talent where required for specific projects, such as bulk reading. Sarah’s previous
background is as a director and editor of film drama, including broadcast
work. She has also worked as a lecturer in film practice and theory. She
studied as a director at the Bournemouth Film School and gained a first
class degree in Communications from Goldsmiths’ College. She combines
a strong analytical perspective with years of practical experience putting
screen stories together and discovering what makes them work. With a clear
eye on the end goal of the development process she is keen to take more
projects through to the screen and came to development in 2003 determined
to help strengthen more material for production. If you would like to
